The Magic & Mystery of Water
Recently I have been drawn to investigate water. Yes the stuff I drink every day and until recently I gave very little thought to. The clear, tasteless (is it really though?) liquid that comes effortlessly out of our taps, flows in rivers, lays stagnant in some ponds and puddles and forms waves and tides in the ocean. The water in the sea responds to weather conditions and the moon’s gravitational pull. Science tells us that up to 70% of our body’s weight is water and as much as 99% as a percentage of the total number of molecules are H20.
Long ago when studying Homeopathy I had come across the photographs taken by Dr Emoto who showed that exposing water to various different vibrational frequencies resulted in different crystal formations being formed when the water was subsequently frozen. He experimented using music, thoughts, prayer, meditation to influence the water. The results for love, gratitude, compassion are beautiful and the results for hate, evil and heavy metal music are less pleasing to the eye.
In more recent years, I came across the work of Dr Gerald Pollack who has done much research into water and has written a book ‘The fourth phase of water’. He discovered a phase of water that behaves almost like a liquid crystal and organises itself into what he calls EZ ‘eazy’ water which stands for exclusion zone. When water is near hydrophilic surfaces it forms a hexagonal repeating lattice of H302 molecules that pushes out or excludes all impurities and solutes. He found this EZ water is alkaline, has enhanced electrical conductivity compared to ordinary water and can even generate a negative electrical potential. Ongoing research explores EZ water to see if it plays a role within our bodies in cellular communication and energy storage.
When EZ water is exposed to infra red electromagnetic radiation (hello sunlight and saunas) this electrical effect is magnified. Hence he postulates that animals and humans like plants, trees and other forms of nature have an ability to do the equivalent of photosynthesise i.e. get their energy from the sun. Dr Pollack goes on to suggest that inside our living cells we have this type of water and its signature hexagonal structure has been termed ‘living’ water. This idea fascinated me and lead me to stop drinking tap water and buy bottled mineral water instead. READ ON….
Whilst in Kolkata studying at the Allen College of Homeopathy’s Summer Programme I had many aha moments. One of the things Drs Banarjea practiced consistently (and this was different from other people I have trained with) was telling their patients to take the remedies in water. It is common practice in the UK at least for the remedies (little white sugar pillules coated in a minute dose of the chosen therapeutic substance) to usually just be taken directly into the mouth and chewed up. The Homeopathic doctors were not precious about the sort of water it had to be - if the nearest water was from the well where their patients lived and was not too clean it would do. What, I wondered, was the significance of the water?
Shortly after returning home Veda Austin came up on my social media feed. She is an artist, water researcher and crystallographer from New Zealand who has taken Dr Emoto’s work and developed a very simple freezing technique that enables anyone with a freezer and an iPhone to see what happens when water freezes. She speaks very well about how she developed her work and her relationship with water. She is very knowledgeable and careful to make no claims as to what may or not be true if it has not been her direct research experience. So I set about pouring small amounts of water into my pyrex dish (you have to use a flat, glass bottomed dish to freeze the water and Amazon was taking four very long days to deliver some glass petri dishes!) putting it my freezer and setting the timer for five minutes.
First I compared tap water, boiled water from my kettle, mineral water from Roys supermarket and water from my #Lifestraw (metal drinking bottle that you can put any water in and it will filter it to remove pretty much everything - I used it in India and was not sick after pouring water from the tap in some remote villages into it). Umm they were different but not by zillions. The tap water was certainly not the chaotic mess I was expecting. The Lifestraw water had beautiful fan like wispy icicles. ALL of them had the hexagonal fern shapes that Veda talks about being the sign of water at its most alive or undisturbed - the living water Dr Gerald Pollack speaks of.
I played with water and Reiki, with words on bits of paper placed under the petri dishes, with single drops of herbal tinctures, with placing the little white pills directly in the petri dish and then removing them. I do not know what any of it means yet. But I have seen some beautiful patterns and had some breath taking results (see my next Blog). It definitely depends on the length of time the water has to freeze and how clean the petri dish is before you put the water in. Leaving the dish in the freezer too long allows two layers of crystals to form and the unfrozen water is trapped in between. This makes the images difficult to make out. How much water I have put in the dish is not so crucial as you only want the first layer to freeze so you can pour off any excess and still reveal the frozen landscape underneath. One thing I have noticed is that my tap water contains these living hexagonal shapes and it also responds and changes as well as the ‘special’ mineral water to the different vibrations it comes in to close proximity with. So I now drink my own tap water and feel fine about it.
Other conclusions to date:
I have had some repeatable patterns from using the same homeopathic remedy - implying that the remedies affect the structure of the water - taking on information possibly. Does crystallography give us visual proof of water’s ability to carry the memory of things it comes into contact with energetically? (I know the memory of water is a much debated topic amongst certain circles.)
The crystallography patterns are about the ENERGY of water NOT its material, chemical composition. I use the same source of water to fill all the petri dishes when comparing remedy patterns. Reiki, thoughts, intentions and music exposure freezes have not physically ‘added’ anything material to the water.
We know our thoughts and feelings affect our biochemistry - is this because we are mainly water and water is affected by frequencies and vibrations?
So after my initial foray into water experimenting, I am much more mindful and thankful for the water I drink. When I was ill I was convinced I need to drink ‘pure’ water - now I know that I need to be a grateful receptable for the water that has travelled many millions of miles and been through as many millions of cycles, experiences and phases to reach my mouth.
My investigations continue!!!!!!
